The Heart of Adventure

When I think of Sean, the first thing that pops into my head is his “all in” attitude. From the moment we seriously began discerning our vocation to marriage, he had to give me a wake up call, and help me realize that our dating relationship was for a higher purpose-marriage. I needed to be “all in” for this to work, and I’ve never looked back.

His heart has always been “out west”, and when we discerned where to move and hang his shingle after pediatric dentistry residency, the Lord opened up many doors along the way that led us to Colorado, and Colorado Springs to put down roots. The mountains were calling, and we went! We have found that the Lord has something far better in mind for you than what you can imagine for yourself.

Upon moving here is 2009, we would do hikes, car-camp, but our oldest boys were getting bigger, and Sean wanted greater adventure. We founded Trail Life USA Troop 26:26. It’s a Christian scouting organization that is Father-Son. With 4 other men, our troop became the first Catholic troop in Colorado Springs. This gave Sean the opportunity to learn about backpacking, survival, rafting, and outdoor rock climbing, with other men and their sons, and with a priest in tow. Having a priest on every backpacking trip allows the boys to see the priest as one of them, experiencing the elements, and gives them the opportunity to open up to him while hiking, imagine themselves as a priest, and to experience Mass in all sorts of settings.
